The Tennessee Fair Housing Council is seeking a full-time bilingual (Spanish-English) administrative assistant for its Nashville office, located in the Opryland area. The Tennessee Fair Housing Council is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate housing discrimination and ensure equal opportunity for all people through leadership, education, outreach, public policy initiatives, advocacy and enforcement. We have a staff of three, including the open position described below.
Job duties include:
Answering phone calls, including from Spanish speakers
Assisting with reports to grantors
Entering potential clients into our client-tracking application
Providing ACCURATE English-Spanish interpretation/translation for client interviews/
The successful hire may be promoted later to a Fair Housing Specialist position, which would include the above duties plus complaint intake/investigation and running our fair housing testing program. There would be a commensurate pay increase in this case. The eventual hire will go through an intensive training in fair housing law.
Demonstrated ability to work non-judgmentally with people of diverse backgrounds (examples: race, national origin, disability, sexual orientation and gender identity, economic class)
Verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish
Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office applications (including Outlook, Word and Excel)
Experience with Quickbooks and bookkeeping
Attention to detail
A good sense of humor
Salary and benefits: Salary depends on experience and potential for promotion. Full health coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield (Network S) or monthly stipend in lieu of insurance.
