Due to changes in funding, the Tennessee Fair Housing Council is unable to accept any cases outside of Davidson County; and cases within Davidson County must go through a case approval process. Due to the government shutdown, we are unable to say when we will be able to take cases outside of Davidson County again.

The TFHC is a private, non-profit organization promoting equity and diversity in housing; and safeguarding access to affordable housing for under-served and marginalized populations through education, outreach, and enforcement of the Fair Housing Act. Our mission is to eliminate housing discrimination throughout Tennessee.

Our organization provides education and outreach on preventing housing discrimination, and we also take complaints from individuals who believe they are experiencing or have experienced a difference in treatment based on their race, color, religion, National Origin, sex, familial status, or disability. Our work with individual clients sometimes involves negotiating disability-related accommodations with landlords, and on some occasions we provide legal representation to individuals who wish to file an administrative complaint or lawsuit.

Our enforcement program is based in Nashville and concentrates on Davidson, Cheatham, Dickson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson Counties. Unfortunately, we are not able to take every case due to our limited funding and resources.
